In a horrendous act of animal cruelty, Tammy Green Douglas, of Weatherford, Texas was arrested on Saturday and charged with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals in the shooting death of her own dog reported myfoxdfw.com.
Acting on a local tip, Douglas allegedly admitted to shooting the mother dog in the head and then dragging the dead dog and ten puppies who were trying to nurse off of their dead mother, to the road and abandoning them.
Douglas told the Parker County Sheriff's Department the mother dog had become aggressive.
According to Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler, the mother dog was a three-year-old malnourished red German shepherd and heeler mix. The ten puppies, believed to be between one week and ten days old, barely could open their eyes.
A school bus driver found the dead dog and her puppies. The puppies are currently in the care of Angels and Outlaws Second Chance Bully Ranch.
Animal cruelty is a felony offense in Texas.
Douglas has already bailed out of jail.
