Weather forecast for northern Maine, Monday, May 10, 2010

Today and Tonight:  A weak weather disturbance will bring some isolated rain showers to northern Maine.  High temperatures today will be near 48 Degrees.  High pressure will build into the area late tonight and after a cloudy start to the night, skies will become partly cloudy after midnight.  Low temperatures tonight will be near 32 Degrees.

Tuesday through Wednesday:  Tuesday is expected to be a sunny to partly sunny day with high temperatures near 52 Degrees.  Sunny to partly sunny skies are expected to continue on Wednesday with high temperatures near 55 Degrees.

Wednesday night through Sunday:  Nice weather is expected to continue through at least Thursday across northern Maine.  After Thursday, the long range model guidance disagree with the timing and development of the next weather disturbance which is forecast to track from the Great Lakes on Friday into Saturday.  The GFS model is faster and stronger with this system and forecasts rain across northern Maine from Friday afternoon right through Saturday.  The European model is slower and weaker with the weather disturbance and brings little if any rainfall to the area.  I am going to lean heavily towards the European model as it nailed last weekend's storm system and the GFS model tends to bring systems in too quickly.

The Euro model also backs some moisture into northern Maine from the northeast on Sunday, however, it looks like the bulk of that moisture may wait until Sunday afternoon.

All-in-all, it looks like a pretty good weekend for a whole host of events across the area, including Caribou's Citywide Yard Sale, UMPI's graduation and NMCC's graduation.
