Weather Forecast For Houston, Texas and vicinity, Monday, January 21, 2013

Discussion

Houston may not be blessed with such luck later in the winter. But for now, the Bayou City continues to "dodge the bullet" as bitter cold air visits the Midwest and Northeast. One system may drop snow and ice over parts of the Corn Belt, Appalachia and the Northeast later this week, and its attendant cold front may sneak through southeastern Texas with a shower and thunderstorm chance Friday afternoon.

But impacts from Arctic air will, at best, be only of the glancing variety in our part of the world. There will be a significant rain and thunderstorm threat on January 28 - 29, however, as a major winter storm rolls out of the Intermountain Region into the Texas Panhandle. It is that system which, once it moves into the Eastern Seaboard, that may finally bring a change to much colder weather to the Gulf Coast.

Until that time, be glad you do not live in Chicago or New York.
