Weather forecast complicates Northeast holiday travel

America's busiest travel day will be further complicated by East Coast airport delays Wednesday, according to Weather.com. Areas heaviest affected by the predicted rain, thunderstorms, and snow are Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, NYC airports, Newark (EWR), Boston's Logan (BOS) and Washington. Looming weather forecast of rain and gusting winds will throw an extra snag into flight status and an already tangled web of Thanksgiving holiday 2011 travel plans for many Northeast travelers.

A severe Midwest storm system will graduate to a wintry mix of snow and ice tonight and into Wednesday in northern New York and New England.

As you can see on the graphics displaying Wednesday's airport forecast below, rain will be widespread across the major hubs throughout the region. The heaviest rain will be during the morning with a few scattered showers lingering through the day. Increasingly gusty winds could also cause air travel delays."
