Move over emerald and cobalt because this month red commands the spotlight. This ultimate power color gets plenty of play on Valentine’s Day as lovers delight in receiving red roses and assorted fancy red wrapped chocolates. Many will also celebrate the occasion by adding a pop of red to their neutral outfits.
The fact that February is National Heart Month gives women an extra incentive to wear red all month long. The American Heart Association’s (AHA) Go Red for Women campaign focuses attention on the leading cause of death among women, cardiovascular disease.
A ten year sponsor of Go Red for Women, Macy’s has raised forty million dollars to date for heart disease research and prevention efforts. All month long, they offer customers an exciting lineup of events, promotions and merchandise in stores across the country. From now through February 14, customers wearing red or a red dress pin (available at Macy’s for $2.00) will receive a 20% discount on merchandise and 15% off fine and fashion jewelry.
In the mood for a red dress? Macy’s will also donate 10% off the purchase price of each of three limited edition red dresses to AHA through the end of the month.
