You've got a seriously twisted understanding of the world. No one is going to take away your silly guns. I'm a gun enthusiast, and it's paranoid twits like you that make it almost embarrassing to admit that, sometimes.

But thanks for reminding me to stop in at Starbucks.

  • rk 5 years ago

MB, let's assume for the sake of argument that you're right; Levis and their gun-grabbing friends will never be successful. Does that mean you want your jeans dollars to go to people who hold your values in contempt and use your own money to spit on your way of life as soon as you turn your back? Why not try to buy from people you might have dinner or a beer with instead?

  • JT 5 years ago

Heard about Levi Strauss supporting gun control groups over a decade ago and have not worn nor purchased any of their clothing since.

MB: You are correct, nobody is going to take away my guns. As a friend says "From my cold dead hands, my ass. I’ll be taking their issue weapons from their cold dead hands. I fight to win."

  • Gregg 5 years ago

    MB,
The problem is that you are whistling past the graveyard of history.

If we are wrong then nothing happens. On the other hand, if you are wrong we end up with a lot of bloodshed that could have been prevented.

  • Buckj 5 years ago

As a kid i loved my levi jeans...i have not worn them for years cause they cost too much for my wallet....for sure i will NEVER buy levis again !!!

  • Loki1776 5 years ago

I stopped buying anything from Levi Strauss over ten years ago when they had their own PAX web site. I emailed them multiple times to tell them why. Their response was boilerplate saying basically "we aren't trying to ban guns, but we don't want you to be able to buy or own them." I've worn Lee or Wrangler jeans ever since.

Remember, besides Levis, they also make Dockers and Slates.

  • MamaLiberty 5 years ago

MB, you are a "gun enthusiast?" What does that mean? If the nice "master" suggests you find another hobby, you wouldn't have a real problem with it?

I'm a LIFE "enthusiast," and I intend to live free. My guns are only a part of that - but an important part.

And I've never work Levi jeans. Never could afford them anyway.

"You've got a seriously twisted understanding of the world. No one is going to take away your silly guns."

Tell that to the people of Austrailia.

  • Henry Bowman 5 years ago

Hey, MB, got any friends in England or Australia? No one was going to take away their silly guns, either. But guess what? Gun banners are liars.

Gun-owners... have been brainwashed by the NRA to think a handgun ban would mean the confiscation of their hunting rifles. No one seems able to convince them that even the mouthiest Massachusetts liberal has no designs on long guns.
    --MARY MCGRORY, WASHINGTON POST, 5/19/02

We are inclined to think that every firearm in the hands of anyone who is not a law enforcement officer constitutes an incitement to violence.
--A MOUTHY DC LIBERAL AT THE WASHINGTON POST, 8/19/65

The only way to discourage the gun culture is to remove the guns from the hands and shoulders of people who are not in the law enforcement business.
--A MOUTHY NEW YORK LIBERAL AT THE NEW YORK TIMES, 9/24/75

  • Henry Bowman 5 years ago

The goal is an ultimate ban on all guns, but we also have to take step at a time and go for limited access first.
--A MOUTHY FLORIDA DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF STATE HEALTH, 11/7/93

Had I the power, I would confiscate every rifle, shotgun, and handgun in the world and replace them with bows and arrows and cans of pepper spray.
--A MOUTHY MASSACHUSETTS LIBERAL IN THE BOSTON GLOBE, 7/13/03

Sorry, but it's been 215 years, and it's time to infringe.
--A MOUTHY WASHINGTON LIBERAL IN THE SEATTLE POST INTELLIGENCER, 4/29/06

At least McGrory is a dead liar.

  • Ned 5 years ago

Wow - thanks for clearing that up, MB. I guess you can write, but, you apparently just landed on earth. I guess that none of the disarmament laws that were passed in this country were ever really passed.

I'm going to the corner store and buying a Solothurn 20MM, and while I'm there I'll pick up a new full-auto MP-5. OH - CRAP that's right - I can't get one of those.

And the AWB in California, where I used to live, which made certain guns illegal, and which guns had to be either turned in or removed from the state, never happened either.

Maroon. "Gun enthusiast" my eye. BTW - if you are actually as stupid as you let on, maybe you should re-consider ever even touching a gun.

Or maybe you're simply woefully out of touch. Or maybe it's everyone else - all the grassroots 2nd Amendment groups can all go home now.

MB has spoken. "No one is going to take away your silly guns." "Going to" and "trying to" are different things. Is that the distinction? Molon labe?

  • Joshua 5 years ago

Thanks for the heads up David. I was not aware of Levi's complicity in the greater gun confiscation agenda. Great article.

@MB, I would refer you to the adjudicated illegal door to door gun confiscation which occurred during post Katrina in New Orleans and Louisiana by law enforcement officers under direct orders from the Louisiana Governor and New Orleans mayor.

Without specific laws on the books which ban federal, state, and local governments from illegally confiscating guns from law abiding citizens during a national or local martial law declaration, we are only one emergency away from a Katrina style gun grab. You cannot claim it won't happen if it has already happened...recently.

Gun hating White House Chief of Staff Rham Emanuel has already been quoted as saying, "Never let a serious crisis go to waste". I'm holding him at his word.

  • ron2112 5 years ago

I like most folks grew up wearing lEVI'S but when I heard over a decade ago that they were in support of "GUN CONTROL" I switched to wranglers theyr'e just as comfortable and tough with a cheaper price tag.

  • Clint 5 years ago

YEAH!!! What they said. When I first read about Levi's lust for all things Global, I sent them E-mails also. Ya know what? Haven't heard a thing from them. Unfortunately I had to purchase some of their jeans to work in. They were the only brand that kind of fit half way decent. But alas, I am trying new brands that I have found online that are, guess what....MADE IN AMERICA. And with Mr. Codrea's permission I would like to drop their name....

    Pointer Brand

I stopped buying levis about 20 years ago.

I don't own any silly guns: 3 M1 Garands, 1 Springfield M1A, 1 Colt Mark IV Series 70, 1 1913 Erfurt Luger P08. All serious hardware. Not one silly pink LadySmith in the bunch. Why do I say they are serious? Because I'm serious about keeping them, and you are going to be in some serious hurt if you don't leave them alone.

  • Ted 5 years ago

Damn, and I finally found a style of Levi's that fit just right. Gonna have to look a little harder for another brand the next time I go shopping.

  • Kent McManigal- tinyurl.com/abqliberty 5 years ago

I wear Wah Maker "frontier pants" anyway. I like the old-style fit and the suspender buttons. Just wish they came in 40" inseam.

  • JD 5 years ago

I switched to Carhartts several years ago when I read they suppory anti-gun groups. Google Carhartt & read their history.

  • straightarrow 5 years ago

I haven't worn Levi's in over 20 years, I guess I figured them out before the rest of you. This all started with them when they made the big point that they were going after the more "upscale" market and didn't wish to be associated truck drivers and blue collar workers in the minds of their customers.

If y'all think back on it, you'll remember it too. Their used jeans were bringing $500.00/pair in Tokyo and Levi Strauss went all "elitely enlightened" on us. That's when they turned.

  • Muxtek 5 years ago

Goodbye Levis. You make pants. What the heck are you doing crusading against guns? Say goodbye to my hard earned money. Idiots. The Wrangler cargo pants at Walmart (where I buy my ammo) are looking real good right now. Thank you Examiner. Good to know.

  • citizenjohn 5 years ago

This is good to know. Thankfully, I don't own any Levi's. I wear and recommend the jeans by 5.11 Tactical because they have interior pockets that can be used for hiding valuables. If you can find them on sale, they are worth every penny.

  • radnex 5 years ago

I wear Red Kap jeans and shirts. They are kind of like Dickies, only less expensive and better quality.

  • Elkad 5 years ago

So someone recommend another brand of zipper-free jeans? Preferably with a similar cut to 501s. All I've found are boutique stuff at $100/pair.

  • MB 5 years ago

See? This is exactly it - when the topic is guns, the halfwits come out to play, militant in their ignorance. I've been shooting, in one form or another, for ~20 years. And in that time, I've found that the incredibly uninformed paranoia makes conversations on these matters rather pointless.

  • Joshua 5 years ago

@ MB, "See? This is exactly it - when the topic is guns, the halfwits come out to play, militant in their ignorance. I've been shooting, in one form or another, for ~20 years. In your original post you claimed no one is trying to take guns away. I'm saying it has already occurred in the very recent past, sanctioned under the guise of a declared emergency in the case of post Katrina New Orleans. Fortunately a federal judge has agreed with us and declared the New Orleans gun confiscation to be unconstitutional and illegal.

MB, this is not militancy or ignorance, this is a historical fact. I believe that past performance may dictating future performance and that gun haters and gun grabbers will not be deterred by a judges' ruling. Gun grabbers are driven by pure emotion and hysterics. I'm compelled by the Constitution and facts. That's all I need to win.

  • LH 5 years ago

Joshua you are wasting your time. MB is not interested in facts. You can't persuade him. If he was he would have brought some up. He didn't disprove anything said in the story or by commenters. Instead, he just calls us names. If he is a gun owner he is so ignorant who cares what he thinks? If he's not he's just a troll and I repeat who cares what he thinks?

  • Joshua 5 years ago

I think you're right about that LH. Some people refuse to see logic and reason.

Sara Lee Corporation has been donating to anti-gun organizations for years. Their products include Jimmy Dean sausage, Hanes underwear, Senseo coffee, Leggs stockings, and of course Sara Lee baked goods and cold cuts.

I stopped wearing levi's about twenty years ago but it had nothing to do with them supporting the gun-grab. I stopped because they went from three or four good styles to like a hundred different absurd styles to choose from. Button fly, stone-washed, pre-shrunk, boot leg, 551, etc. That and you could only buy them at one store the gap which proceeded to raise their prices. Glad I did!!!

    Wrangler--"Real comfortable jeans"

  • Freak 5 years ago

I've worn Levi's all my life. NOT ANY MORE!!!

MB - I don't own any silly guns either. Go to hell!

  • Jack 5 years ago

Wrangler are much more comfortable than Levi's!

  • BoomLover 5 years ago

Only Levi's I own are pretty old, torn, ect. I quit buying them when they decided to raise their prices in leaps and bounds, too....Wranglers, Dickies, Lee's...I'll try the 5.11

  • RustyBullet 5 years ago

    Levis - What Levis??? - I don't own any stinking Levis !!!

  • Bob 5 years ago

I had worn Levis for years. But no more. I threw them all in the burn pit. I'll never buy another pair, not even at a garage sale. I'm through with Levis for life. I hope you go out of business.

  • Bob 5 years ago

I have worn Levis all my life, since I was 4. I'm through with Levis forever though

I'd like to wish you luck but I'm not. I hope you go out of business tomorrow.

  • Kingpin 4 years ago

Guys, please excuse MB. He is totally clueless. He hasn't seen the ball since the kick off and doesn't even know it's the fourth quarter. He probably is an obama supporter who is smitten with "hope and change." Myself, being a MAJOR gun owner and hater of all things un-American, have only disdain for dems and libs and totally enjoy making them uncomfortable by ridiculing them publicly when I discover one in a croud of people. Thus far, I have been considered by them as "not nice," whenever I point out the fallicy of their beliefs. I, for one, would put them all in an asylem and feed them all ritilyn, like they feed their own kids to make them "nice" too. Banish them, banish them ALL to hell.

  • Anonymous 2 years ago

I read this and am still very confused on your standpoint. I saw nothing offensive, except to those naive fools who will follow anyone that say "oh man this country needs to keep their guns and gun laws are trying to take our guns." No one can take your guns. It s a right clearly laid out in the constitution. Good luck Levi trying to override the constitution. They just favor one side of an argument, probably to appease liberals. Really what you are typing here is your opinion based with very, very loose fact. One thought experiment goes like this, we all probably read Whitman in high school. So does that mean since we went to high school we are all socialist? No! As the great philosopher, Soren Kierkegaard once did, you can a statement that is beautifully written and craft it to your own product. This was done, by himself, but from pseudonyms.
