Wealthy filmmaker Michael Moore: 'Capitalism is a crime'

Michael Moore, the wealthy filmmaker with an estimated net worth of $50 million, declared capitalism to be a crime on Twitter, citing an article at Bloomberg, Twitchy reported Thursday.

"Why capitalism is a crime: (from Bloomberg News) 'Only Wall St Wins in Detroit Crisis, Reaping $474 Million Fee,'" he wrote.

According to Twitchy, the Bloomberg article talks about how banks are "making money on bonds issued to the City of Detroit."

Twitchy piled on the liberal filmmaker who frequently attacks the very system that has made him so wealthy.

"Of course, we’re sure that Mr. Moore includes himself among the guilty, seeing as he’s done so well under such an oppressive system," Twitchy said. "He must understand that his high-flying life as a successful 'documentary' filmmaker is built on the back of millions of enslaved proletarians. As an 'enlightened' member of the bourgeois elite, surely this man is willing to atone for his sins and abuses."

At one point, Moore denied being wealthy or being part of the so-called "one percent."

"That even -- that even though -- that even though I do well, that I don't associate myself with those who do well, I am devoting my life to those who have less and who have been crapped upon by the system. And that's how I spend my time, my energy, my money on trying to up-end this system that I think is a system of violence, it's a system that's unfair to the average working person of this country," he told Piers Morgan in 2011.

After being heckled about his own wealth at an Occupy Portland rally, Moore got testy with a CBS reporter who brought up the subject.

Over the last three years, Moore has called for revolution, demanded that rich people be arrested and thrown in jail, called for a 50 percent top marginal tax rate and frequently expressed his own hatred and disgust with the United States.

Recently, Moore suggested that pictures of the children killed in Newtown be made public in order to advance gun control.

"We know that, deep in his heart, Mr. Moore really craves an anonymous, meager existence in a Socialist utopia," Twitchy said.

The post then suggested that Moore be thrown in jail for engaging in the very system he decries.

"To prove this noble aim, we have no doubt that he will altruistically give up his lavish lifestyle and pay his debt to the workers — in jail," the Twitchy staff wrote.

"Also, we expect that pigs will soon learn to fly," Twitchy added.
