We should control the politicians not guns. Vice President Biden, appointed by President Obama, is spearheading a task force investigating gun violence in wake of the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Thursday, Biden met with National Rifle Association officials and other personnel from gun ownership associations. The meeting didn’t go well. Biden just pushed his preconceived agenda on these attendees while the gun owner associates proposed increased security measures and stiffer sentences for criminals committing crimes when guns are involved.
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states. “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The amendment is clear and concise. Today’s liberals are trying to eliminate this amendment saying it is outdated and only referred to single shot musket rifles in the 18th Century.
The gun ownership issue is extremely volatile due to the Newtown shooting and in Aurora, Colorado. Biden and Obama are compelled to incite anger against gun owners instead of sincerely securing our schools and public gatherings.
If scrapping the Constitution is the order of the day, we can eliminate the Sixth Amendment guaranteeing speedy trials and legal counsel. Most of the criminals on trial are guilty. So why bother with excessive court costs?
A vast majority of Americans polled favor armed security in our schools. Yet Obama or Biden will never consider that measure. Even though the school where Obama’s daughters attend, Sidwell Friends, has armed security.
The administration will not address limiting accessibility of the mentally deranged, which likely would have prevented the shootings at Newtown, Aurora and Virginia Tech back in 2007. Each of the shooters at these sites had a history of mental illness and authorities neglected their erratic behavior.
Biden’s conclusion will only recommend restrictions on gun ownership, purchasing and the size of the magazines for the guns. He will never recommend mandatory sentencing when a gun is used in the commission of a felony. He definitely will rule out gun sweeps of illegally held guns in cities like Detroit and Chicago where nearly 1,000 people were killed last year. No. Obama and Biden are going after legal gun owners living in suburban America.
That is why we have a Second Amendment to maintain a free state and a limited constitutional republic.
