It comes as a fitting coincidence that the same day Miley Cyrus released her new music video http://www.eonline.com/news/456672/miley-cyrus-gets-completely-naked-in-wrecking-ball-music-video-watch-now, the sweet and certainly more appropriate Sadie Robertson, daughter of Willie and Kori Robertson of A & E's, 'Duck Dynasty' fame, has her very first NY fashion show. Sadie had a hand in designing the new line of prom dresses shown at the event, and her father had approval on all of them.
These dresses are in sharp contrast to Cyrus' recent ugly and obscene performance at the VMA's and certainly are a contrast to Miley's video, in which she appears semi-clad in white cotton underwear for part. Miley has a beautiful body, but when she is presented nude and obscenely licking construction tools in the video, and seen naked astride a wrecking ball, we have to wonder if her career isn't headed for a wrecking crew, as well.
Sadie is younger than Miley by 4 years, but her grounded-in-faith family will no doubt help Sadie keep from making the same disastrous career choices that Miley has made. Both of these girls are role models for even younger girls. Sadie is seen wearing clothing fit for a Grace Kelly image, in her prom wear fashion show. She is demurely covered, but she looks elegant and lovely.
What girls like Miley, and her followers, don't realize is that young men will treat young women the way they deport themselves, rightly or wrongly. Who is the better role model? Sadie Robertson. Who will burn herself out, like so many others before her time? Miley Cyrus. We will be reading about her escapades for months and years to come, while Sadie is either a fashion princess and getting a college education, or quietly living in West Monroe, Lousiana with her family.
Miley would be smart to use some of her money for voice lessons, and lessons on how to conduct herself in a more respectable manner. We need more Sadie Robertsons, and fewer role models like Miley Cyrus for our girls and young women. Handsome really is as handsome does.
