"We Have Your Husband" is based on the true story of Jayne Valeseca and her husband, kidnap victim, Eduardo Valseca. The movie about their story aired on Lifetime in 2011. It stars Esai Morales and Teri Polo as Eduardo and Jayne.
Based on the book by Jayne Garcia Valseca and Mark Ebner, the movie follows the kidnapping of Eduardo, a business executive in Mexico, who is living a wonderful life with his American wife, Jayne. They are living their dreams in a beautiful city in Mexico until Eduardo is kidnapped by some Mexican men, who threaten to kill him unless his wife pays the ransom. Jayne frantically does everything humanely possible to get the money to the kidnappers in time to save her husband who is being held captive in a box.
In the true story, Eduardo was kidnapped in Mexico in 2007 by Mexican hoodlums. He was held in a small cage, where he was tortured and starved for seven months. After he was finally released, Eduardo returned home to live with his wife Jayne. Sadly, Jayne Valseca passed away not long after the movie debuted, according to The Washington Post.
The case is eerily similar to that of Bosco Guttierez, an architect, who was kidnapped and held in a cell in Mexico in 1990. That case inspired the movie "Espacio Interior."
