Ephesians 1:18-20 (NLT)
I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.[a]
I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

I love when the doctors and nurses witness God’s Power working in the life of our son. They literally break out in laughter. When our son was first diagnosed, he was gravely ill from the tumors effects. He had lost around 40 pounds when he began treatment. There was great concern that the treatment would further the severe weight loss and diminish his overall condition even further. Well God had another plan altogether. He defied statistics and medical history by actually getting better DURING the horrible treatment inside and out. By the end of his first round of cancer, his body was in a much better state than when he began. Praise the Lord for His Wonder-Working Power! The second round of treatment came while he was enrolled in his junior year of college. Despite radiation and chemotherapy to his hip, he continued to attend mechanical engineering school. He was able to study and retain despite chemotherapy that notoriously effects the human ability to recite and recall certain things. Crazy – I know! Third round – He continued in his classes with just a week of radiation treatment. The fourth diagnosis was devastating to our family as the cancer had now spread from two isolated spots to his lymphatic system from his aorta to all around his stomach and in-between. Panic ensued at the thought that cancer was winning despite our greatest efforts so back to chemotherapy. Of course, our son continued to attend school as a full-time student. After a few rounds of chemotherapy it was time to check for efficacy. The doctor warned us not to expect a whole lot of change but if the cancer was not growing or spreading – we were doing well. I asked her, “What if the cancer is gone?” She assured me that it was impossible for it to be gone so soon. You guessed it – she called me laughing, too. Now after months of fighting man and money to allow our son to have a bone marrow transplant to hopefully eradicate cancer, it was discovered that cancer was calling again. So now after two more rounds of heavy-hitting chemotherapy promised to be the worse that he had ever had with terrible side effects, they are laughing again. With few side effects that are mild, our son’s hemoglobin count is climbing and his platelet count recovering on its own – the nurses and doctors are STILL laughing calling this kid an enigma. I have a secret. He has awesome blood. See because Jesus Christ is His Savior and Lord – he has the resurrection power of God working in every single cell. Are you a believer? Have you asked Jesus Christ to be your Savior? Do you live as though He is your Lord? Congratulations you have power, too!

The only difference between our son and millions of other believers is faith that has become confident hope. That’s right – he simply believes that God will do what His Word says that He will do, and that Jesus Christ has given Him power to overcome the grave and fully accept all of God’s Promises as his own. You know what? I believe it, too. I have seen it with my own eyes. The Power of God working in and through our son’s battle with cancer has turned our faith into confident hope that the Word of God is true and God’s Power is for us!

Exodus 34:10 (NLT)
The LORD replied, “Listen, I am making a covenant with you in the presence of all your people. I will perform miracles that have never been performed anywhere in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people around you will see the power of the LORD—the awesome power I will display for you.

God’s Power is part of our covenant with the Lord. He gives it to us freely because it is part of God’s Inheritance for all mankind. In the Old Testament, the Spirit of God was limited and given at God’s Discretion according to His Plan. Gideon (Judges 14:19), Samson (Judges 15:14), Saul (I Samuel 10:6-7), and David (I Samuel 16:13) are just a few of the people that God gave His Spirit to fulfill His Purpose. But the Spirit was limited in that God removed it from them as well most often because of sin or rebellion against the Lord or His Kingdom. When we recognize that God’s Power is working for us and accept by faith that He will do what His Word says that He will do, it is an acknowledgement that we believe that God’s Power is greater than any other power in the world. (2 Chronicles 32:6-8) God wants to fight your battles and He will win your wars but He will not push you out of the way to do it. God works day and night to enforce peace in all of heaven and earth. (Job 25:2) It is man’s sinful nature that rebels against peace. The attack against heaven and earth coming together under the Power and Authority of God may be futile but it is hostile nevertheless. The enemy will gladly take you hostage, steal all that you have including peace and joy, as well as keeping you in bondage as collateral damage. He cannot kill you but he will make you suffer if you allow it. God’s Power is for you! It is no longer working for you on the outside, but Jesus made sure that we could have it on the inside.

Matthew 16:15-19 (NLT)
Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”

I have shared the events of the night our son was first diagnosed and my dialogue with God. I began to cry out from a broken heart and begin to demand my rights as a Child of God. I know that to some the conversation was downright disrespectful. Who would go the Throne of God like that? Any believer who accepts His Invitation to come boldly. (Ephesians 3:12, Hebrews 4:16) I knew my rights as a believer from studying the Word of God. I believe that God’s Word is true and will not ever return void. When my life did not line up with His Word, His Will and His Way, I went straight to the Lord and requested them. Over and over, I called out to God until I heard a still small voice that simply asked, “Do you trust me?” Well of course I did why else would I be sobbing on my knees in a filthy bathroom calling on the Lord? When I uttered “yes” quietly under my breath, He immediately answered with a promise straight from the Word – “Your son will live and not die.” Here we are today. Faith in God requires activation by believing. If I didn’t believe the Lord could or would do something, then I would have never called on His Name. It matters what you believe because this is the foundation of how you will live. When Peter said, “You are the Messiah, Son of the Living God” it was the moment that the Power of God given through Jesus Christ was bestowed to this man. It is the same with you and I. But there is a difference. The Power of God has moved from the outside of us to the inside of us. Spirit and Truth have met and united. (John 4:23-24) See the Truth is God’s Covenant with His People delineated in full. His Spirit is God’s Power that makes all things possible when we choose to believe.

Mark 5:27-30 (NLT)
She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”

I have read this account countless times. It is one of my favorites. The healing of the woman with issues….of blood that is. She heard (the Word) about Jesus. She came to Him (the Power to Believe). Healing power went out of Jesus. Okay, I never noticed that before. By faith she went to Jesus, in hope she reached out to touch His Robe believing that He had the Power to heal her body. The Power of God went out of Jesus Christ effortlessly by her faith. This totally discredits the lie that we can do anything to make the Lord withhold His Power if by faith we believe. In other words, those who have wandered from the Lord coming back to Him in their moment of desperation have nothing to fear because grace already made the way so that when we turn around, reach out and touch the Lord – His Power instantly completes us. Her faith and belief in Jesus Christ and the Power of God healed her body before the Lord even knew that she was there. The biggest mistake people make is to not know the Word and/or reject His Spirit. Together all things are possible to those who believe. “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. ‘Anything is possible if a person believes.’” (Mark 9:23) The Word of God is our covenant with Him completely by the Grace and Mercy of Jesus Christ that has allowed the Resurrection Power of God to reach us. The Spirit is the Power of God working on the inside of us as we connect with the Lord and begin to walk in His Kingdom.

Psalm 18:1-2 (NLT)
I love you, LORD; you are my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

It begins by acceptance of God’s Power to save and Strength to deliver found in repentance. To come to the Lord in love and make a commitment to remain true to our covenant.

Psalm 18:25-29 (NLT)
To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity. To the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd. You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud. You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness. In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.

We show ourselves faithful by honoring our covenant to God with our life. We must demonstrate allegiance to His Kingdom so we may enter in to it living in the Presence of God. It is there that we begin to see His Power operating in our life. The more we learn the more we will look for God’s Hand and Intervention in our life as we seek His Word, Will and Way as our way of life. God’s Promises are true. We can have everything that God promised us by faith that leads to belief. As we walk by faith and not by sight, impossible things begin to happen. Doctors begin to laugh at unexpected reports and outcomes. Nurses joke about the “awesome” blood that flows in you and through you. People want to know what is to credit for such things in your life – your life becomes a living, breathing testimony for your very alive God!

Psalm 18:30-36 (NLT)
God’s way is perfect. All the LORD’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. For who is God except the LORD? Who but our God is a solid rock? God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect. He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. You have given me your shield of victory. Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great. You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping.

Allegiance to the Kingdom of God is to walk by faith and fully accept the Power of God working in us and through us. You cannot do this if you don’t believe that God’s Word is true and relevant in your life today. You cannot have His Promises if you do not have faith. Nothing is totally possible outside of believing in the Name of Jesus Christ. You much change your allegiance from earth to Heaven to experience Kingdom results. I must confess that until it became a matter of life and death I did not trust the Lord like I should have. I did not need it. I thought I was getting by just fine. God offers His Power to His People but we are notorious for rejecting it for our own way. (Isaiah 40:25-29) Jesus Christ has given us all the Power of His Kingdom to take authority over the earth. (Luke 10:18-20) Demons have no power or authority in our life unless we give it to them thanks to Jesus. Sickness and disease cannot stay in us when the Resurrection Power of God flows though us. We have the power! Will use it is the question?

Luke 24:46-49 (NLT)
And he said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ You are witnesses of all these things. And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”

Before He died, Jesus prayed that we would be empowered by His Spirit. (John 17:9-19) After He died, Jesus instructed His Disciples to remain until His Power was released. It was. (Acts 1:7-8; Acts 2:1-4) God gave His Resurrection Power to Jesus. (John 5:25-27) He has given it to us. Our covenant with God is the Gospel. We cannot be ashamed of it and live in His Power. (Romans 1:16) We now have resurrection power in us. (Romans 6:3-5) It is life giving power. (Romans 8:1-2) God’s Power is working in us right now! (2 Corinthians 4:6-10) What are you doing with the Power of God invested in your life today? There is no question that we have the power – but what are we doing with it?

Psalm 59:16-17 (NLT)
But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.
