Sites like Stop Theshooting.org and Wikipedia.org list school shootings dating back to the 1700’s. Without question violence has pledged American Schools. One would have to wonder why the massive heartless, seemingly senseless carnage that ravaged Sandy Hook elementary momentarily drove America to their feet in complete and utter outrage.
President Barack Obama stated, “Change doesn’t come from Washington change comes to Washington”. In America change cannot nor will not come in the form of one man. For far too long Americans look to politicians to solve problems and for far too long Americans find themselves disappointed.
The founding fathers surely did not have schools and common areas being target practice with innocent victims and children being killed in excessive numbers when they framed the second amendment. Surely not! Not when the colonies themselves where coming from under the ternary of Great Britain. The founding fathers felt the right to “bear arm” was not to be utilized against each other but rather to reinforce “For the People by the People”.
Change has to come at the bequest of the people.
Many in Washington have forgotten they work “For the people” not the other way around. Bearing arms were to be utilized for a governing body that will NOT do the will of the people.
In the “Greatest Country in the world” the people have to do the work! The only way we change the dangerous environment in our schools and cities is to tell congress what we want. In order to do such we must be aware of what’s going on. How are our elected officials representing us? Public servants have to be held accountable.
If we are truly tired of the violence, senseless shootings and killings we have to instruct and inform congress. If they refuse to do their job they must go. The right to bear arms is to defend “The People” to assure government would never override the will of the people.
Where did we go wrong? The congress making packs not to do what the American people dictate but rather obstruct. “We the people by the people” only works if the people work.
Americans have to do their homework. Schools have been a dangerous place for some time now. Why are we saying Washington has to do something? No, we have to do something. Get the facts and direct congress how to proceed. We are our brother’s keeper.
School violence and shootings are far too acceptable in communities of color and poverty. When they occur almost no one blinks. When a school shooting occurs in an affluent community too often people comments with things, like this is a “good” community , “things like this don’t happen here”. “I don’t understand it”. It’s almost as if a silent voice is mouthing,” there are No poor people or people of color or any of the many stereo types seen repeatedly played out over the nightly news”. If we as Americans have the attitude that an injustice to any American is an injustice to us all then our country would surely see far fewer of such incidents.
