Today, in these economic times, all the struggling going on concerning our parks and the government shutdown, it seems only right for us to discuss what this means for our FFBFs. Although the Off Leash parks are not within the closed parks for the most part, we do need to worry about who is taking care of these parks to keep them safe for our pets. Certainly all responsible pet owners do pick up after their pets; however, it seems there is always one or two in the crowd. And what about the water whether it be drinking or swimming; how do we know this is safe for our pets, not to mention the food items put in the trash and pulled out by birds.
There is no one to test the water and no one to oversee clean-up. This does include the pick-up of garbage and other items our FFBFs may see as food. What can each of us do?
First be a responsible dog owner and pick up after your pets. If you take something into the park, bring it out no matter if it is food stuff or doggie waste. For right now we are the stewards of our parks and communities.
