Longtime Tampa Bay sports talk host Steve Duemig was held off his normal afternoon drive show on WDAE Monday due to stalled contract negotiations with the station. Duemig posted on Facebook and Twitter account that he would not be doing his show. He didn’t give any details other than to say, “he hadn’t been fired and it was more principle involved rather than money.”
Tom Krasniqi filled in for the “Big Dog” Duemig on Monday’s show at WDAE. Duemig has been with WDAE since it became a sports station more than 15 years ago.
With 98.7 “The Fan” and 1040 AM WHBO in the Tampa Bay market, Duemig does have other options should he and WDAE not come to an agreement. Both of those stations are ratings starved and would benefit by having Duemig bring his substantial afternoon drive audience to their airwaves.
