The 2013 WCC tournament schedule has been released. The Gonzaga Bulldogs get the triple bye in the 2013 WCC tournament schedule, putting them in one of the semifinal games after going 16-0 in the WCC during the regular season. According to the updated standings from March 3, that puts Saint Mary's as the No. 2 seed. The Gaels will also get placed in the semifinals that begin on Saturday (March 9).
Gonzaga Beat BYU, Close To Becoming No. 1
At this point, Saint Mary's is a bubble team to make the NCAA tournament brackets and may need to win the WCC tournament to make it in. If the team falls to the Gonzaga in the WCC title game, they will have a 27-6 record that seems good enough to make the field, but that would leave it up to the voters.
The first game of the WCC tournament is on Wednesday night (March 6), when two schools hoping to pull off a few upsets will take to the court. Brigham Young is one school that could really use a few upsets, as the Cougars would have to likely beat Saint Mary's and then Gonzaga to win that automatic berth into the 2013 NCAA tournament.
