A puppy formerly in the care of KCMO animal shelter Wayside Waifs will make her national television debut on Super Bowl Sunday during Animal Planet's annual Puppy Bowl.
Aurora, a retriever/Siberian Husky mix, was one of only 50 shelter puppies chosen from across the country, the shelter said Wednesday. Wayside Waifs had rescued Aurora and her littermates from a high-kill shelter in November. She was then taken to New York for the taping at Discovery Studios, and was adopted shortly after her return to KCMO. The shelter said that Aurora not only scored the first “touchdown” during the Puppy Bowl, but she’s also up for the title of “Most Valuable Puppy.”
“Puppy Bowl IX” airs Sunday, Feb. 3 on Animal Planet. In addition to the playful puppies, Puppy Bowl will again feature the “Kitty Half-Time Show.” The entire program will run in two-hour segments throughout the afternoon and evening, beginning at 2 p.m. Animal Planet has a “Meet Aurora” video on its website, which you can see here.
