Not every cat has a home or a human who can properly care for him or her. In Broward County there are a number of devoted groups and organizations dedicated to caring for and enriching the lives of cats (and dogs). But they cannot do it alone. Here are some ways you can help during the month of October:
Broward Meals on Wheels For Pets Food Drive at Hollywood Animal Hospital
October 21 - November 21, 2013
For the second year in a row, Hollywood Animal Hospital is teaming up with Broward Meals on Wheels to gather food for pets of home-bound seniors throughout Broward County.
From October 21 through November 21, Just stop by Hollywood Animal Hospital (2864 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, FL 33020) with a donation of canned, dry or dehydrated food for cats or dogs. This year there is a strong focus on cat food due to the needs of Broward Meals on Wheels participants.
Drop off times are 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The hospital will match food donations pound for pound. In 2012 the community donated 1000 pounds of food, which was matched by Hollywood Animal Hospital for a total donation of 2000 pounds of food to Broward Meals on Wheels for Pets.

Pets' Broward Event: Let's Fetch Their Balls!

Pets’ Broward is an organization dedicated to stopping the killing of adoptable cats and dogs in Broward County’s animal shelters by changing the model so that it reduces the pet overpopulation problem at its root cause. This model is a high-volume spay and neuter program for Broward County’s pets.
The organization's first ever event, Let's Fetch Their Balls! will take place on Saturday, October 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Markham Park in Sunrise (Corporate Pavilion).
Learn more about how to help make a high-volume spay/neuter program a reality in Broward County. Enjoy tasty treats from local food trucks, adopt a friend for life and feel free to bring dogs, kids and friends.
