People are always saying ‘you need to eat organic’ or ‘you need to buy healthy food’. How can you do this if the price of the healthier food is sky high? This is one reason why America’s obesity rate is raised. It is easier and more cost effective to buy unhealthy food opposed to pay an arm and a leg for something healthier and organic.
Nowadays people need to really read what ingredients are in their food. So many preservatives and unneeded chemicals are added that could potentially harm your health. The best ways and most cost effective ways to eat healthy and organic are:
- Do couponing. You may have a coupon that is only 50 cents off an organic product. But when you add up many coupons at once, you could be paying half of what you’d normally pay for a full shopping list.
- Grow your own food. There is nothing better than walking outside and picking your own vegetables. This is a great way to know for sure it’s organic and healthy. You'll know you won’t be ingesting any harmful pesticides or other chemicals.
- Look hard for cheap organic healthy foods. Believe it or not, but there are some affordable healthy foods. There aren’t many but there are some. It just takes a while to look for them.
- Go to a farmers market or other side ‘grocery shop’ where the prices are pretty much cut in half. This will be a lot cheaper than going to a chain grocery store. Not to mention it’s much more healthy and all organic.
Next time you go grocery shopping, take a look at the ingredients in your food. Chances are if you can’t pronounce the ingredient or don’t know what it is, you don’t need it.
