A new op-ed by NRA Executive Vice President, Wayne LaPierre was released this week in the Daily Caller, highlighting the paranoia from fanatical gun rights activists.
Continuing the theme of false rhetoric, LaPierre essentially wrote a three page rant filled with paranoia and fear. Among the laundry list of outlandish and outrageous claims, LaPierre accused President Obama of running up the national debt so the government could no longer afford the police, leaving the American people without proper protection.
"President Obama is leading this country to financial ruin, borrowing over a trillion dollars a year for phony “stimulus” spending and other payoffs for his political cronies. Nobody knows if or when the fiscal collapse will come, but if the country is broke, there likely won’t be enough money to pay for police protection. And the American people know it."
Wayne LaPierre and others who share his views only contribute to the problem of gun violence in America, not help stop it. LaPierre pushes claims with no factual background, but rather conspiracies of fear that only fire up the conservative base that supports the NRA. Playing on the hatred of prejudice and racism towards President Obama, LaPierre and the NRA have found a way to actually convince many Americans that President Obama is coming to take their guns, despite no evidence to back up their claims.
Like the majority of the American people, President Obama supports common sense gun laws which will protect the American people, not hurt them or take away their constitutional rights.
