Paulina Gretzky, 22 daughter of NHL legend Wayne Gretzky has canceled her Twitter account. Last weekend, Gretzky who dabbled in acting, singing and modeling tweeted "Having a nice sit down dinner with my dad about social media...haha".
It's no wonder Wayne Gretzky was having issues with his daughters tweeting. Anyone who follows her knows she is very open. She tweets about her hard partying ways and posts racy pictures of herself.
In the photos her followers have seen her dressed in lingerie, bikini's and skin baring outfits. Dad must have gotten through to her though as her final tweet read, "Taking a break from Twitter for a bit. Happy Holidays!!! xoxo"
This is a prime example of how parents need to monitor not just their children's computer Internet histories but their phones, and all social networking sites. For some reason children still don't grasp how dangerous the Internet can be.
Even our children in their early 20's seem to forget the safety issues of social media. When did racy, semi-nude photos become so common place? What happened to modesty?
Monitoring children gives the parents the ability to open up lines of communication with their kids. There need to be discussions about what appropriate online behavior is and what isn't. I'm sorry but if you won't go to the mall half naked, then you shouldn't post photos that way on the Internet.
If you will go out in public inappropriately dressed then it's time for a healthy dose of reality for today's youth.
