Wax Tailor plays soundtrack to your life at The Bottleneck on February 1st!

Friday, February 1st will be a unique experience for music lovers at The Bottleneck. Wax Tailor is coming to town to play psychedelic trip-hop and baroque hip-hop, especially focusing on his latest concept album, Dusty Rainbow From The Dark.

“More than a musician, a DJ or a composer, I consider myself as a sound director so I would probably say that I try to write the original soundtrack of your everyday life,” JC said.

Working as a solo artist, in collaboration with various other artists, Wax Tailor has played hundreds of concerts and recorded 3 albums. His music has evolved and changed over the years, but it all comes back to an artist knowing himself.

“Sure I think it’s all about growing and discovering more and more things to feed your own music,” JC said. “For a very long time I was a bit locked inside what was supposed to be a beat maker but with time I’ve realized that I was free to inject everything I needed in my music to make it sound like who I am.”

JC finds inspiration from everything, but most of all music, cinema and everyday life. Friday, February 1st will be his first time playing in Lawrence, Kansas.

“I’m really happy to discover some new territories with this winter tour,” JC said.

“I think that’s like a moment of truth,” JC said in regards to touring. “You’ve been working real hard on a project, you got your own feeling about it, but on tour you meet the audience, straight, with no filter and you get a direct feedback. It’s also a moment when I can give a second life to the music that is fixed on a record.”

The new album Dusty Rainbow From The Dark is especially important to JC and he looks forward to sharing his vision with Lawrence.

“This a very special album for me with the story and the concept,” JC said. “For that reason I’ve been working real hard around the visual aspects and I’ve worked for months with about 20 directors on it so I hope people in Lawrence will appreciate.”

Wax Tailor plays at The Bottleneck on Friday, February 1st with Sam Lachow. Tickets are just $13 if you buy online! This is an all ages show. Doors open at 8 p.m.
