Wax lit up the stage of a sold out Troubadour, on Jan. 15. Disc Jockey, DJ Sourmilk, was the opening act.
Chaun Horton is the drummer, Adam Porris is the guitarist, Kurt Blankenship is the bassist, Davy Nathan is the keyboardist, EOM is the DJ and they accompanied Wax. Regiment Horns provided the horn section and he was accompanied by two female backup vocalists. Hip-Hop artist, Dumbfoundead, also made a special appearance.
Before Wax arrived on stage, his band mates made their way onto the stage. A master of ceremony walked to the center of the stage and greeted the audience. He declared Wax’s newest album, “Continue…”, had just been released and reached number six on the iTunes Hip-Hop charts. Afterwards, Wax walked on stage and began his set with “Get It In”.
As Wax was about to introduce “Dispensary Girl”, he mentioned he was having a great day so far. What made the day great was his record had been released and how grateful he was to have sold out the venue. He also talked about the recent legalization of marijuana, in Wash. and Colo. Afterwards he joked with EOM, introduced him to those in attendance and the rest of his band departed the stage.
After “Dispensary Girl”, Wax grabbed an acoustic guitar and sat down on a bar stool on stage. He stated the next song, “She Used To Be Mine”, was on his new album. Before he struck the opening chords, he joked briefly with the crowd and they began to clap along to his strums. After he placed his acoustic guitar on its stand, he invited Dumbfoundead to the stage. The duo went onto recite “Guess Who”. Afterwards, the rest of his band walked on stage for “Shoop”.
Members of the audience repeatedly chanted for “Rosana”, during the introduction of “Paycut”. Wax granted their request, afterwards. As he introduced “Rosana”, he said how many views the music video had received on YouTube. He joked with the audience and said he could only imagine what actions were taken, during the viewing of the video. Everyone parted the stage, prepared for the encore and the crowd chanted his name.
“Toothbrush”, “Limousine”, “I Ain’t A Real Man”, “Fail”, “Coins”, “Music and Liquor”, “We Can’t All Be Heroes”, “Shoulda Tried Harder”, “Stupefied”, “Out Of My Mind”, “Two Wheels”, “New Crack” and “Wax Goes Bananas” were also part of Wax’s set.
