On Thursday, September 12th, WAVH-FM (106.5; licensed to Daphne, Alabama) broadcast the first edition of their new weekday news, discussion, and interview program "The Drive" as part of their programming from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The first edition had Sean Sullivan, the director of operations for the station, discussing local and national topics by himself and with listeners of the station's programming by telephone and him interviewing a guest of the station as part of his job of hosting the program (he was also one of the hosts for the station's other weekday news, discussion, and interview program "Mobile Mornings" and the weekend nature program "FM Talk 106.5 Outdoors")
The station was able to add "The Drive" to their programming schedule by shortening their regular time period for broadcasting recordings of the syndicated financial advice program "The Clark Howard Show" from three hours to two hours, meaning they would only broadcast the recordings between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday (live versions of "The Clark Howard Show" were usually distributed to local radio stations between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday).
