Watsonville police investigating Wednesday afternoon shooting

Watsonville police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects involved in a Wednesday afternoon shooting.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Rodriguez Street at about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday on a report of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, they were not able to locate any victims, but did find a beige SUV with a flat tire. Investigators determined that the tire had been flattened by a bullet.

The gunman was described as being a Hispanic man in his 20s, wearing a white T-shirt and shorts. The gun was a black semi-automatic handgun. A second suspect involved in the shootout was described as being a Hispanic man between 18 and 20 years old and wearing a tan shirt and shorts. The other suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Officials say no victims have been identified as a result of the shooting and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone who may have seen or heard anything regarding the incident is urged to contact Watsonville police at (831) 768-3350 or the tip line at (831) 768-3544.
