Watsonville police investigating gang-related shooting

Watsonville police are investigating an attempted homicide that is believed to be gang related.

Officers responded to the area of Brewington Avenue and Arbol drive at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday on a report of shots fired and a man down. Upon arrival, they located a 23-year-old Hispanic man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a Bay Area trauma center for treatment and is expected to survive.

The suspect then fired multiple times, striking the victim once. The suspect then ran back to the car and was last seen headed westbound on Crestview Drive.

Police are investigating the shooting as being gang-related. Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact Watsonville police at (831) 728-3544 or (831) 768-3352.
