Watkins Glen Racing Center announces extended hrs WGI opening weekend

The International Motor Racing Research Center in Watkins Glen, NY announced on Friday that it will have extended hours and activities during the opening weekend of Watkins Glen International race track on April 20-21, 2013.

Normally open on Saturdays 10 to 2 and closed on Sundays, on opening weekend the IMRRC will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

According to the IMRRC, the center will show short racing-related films throughout the weekend as part of its "Monthly Memories" series and will serve coffee and donuts both days.

On April 19, the center is also co-sponsoring the annual Green Grand Prix up at WGI. Individuals, colleges and universities, as well as car clubs and manufacturers are invited to participate in this event that highlights greener technologies for motor vehicles. The mission of the International Motor Racing Research Center is to "be the world-class leader in the collection of materials representing the documentary heritage of amateur and professional motor racing, highlighting Sports Car, Formula 1, NASCAR, and vintage and Historic racing."

The IMRRC is located at 610 S. Decatur St. in Watkins Glen, NY.
