Nicholas A. Ianni, 55, was found shot to death yesterday in his Novi apartment. The Waterford medical malpractice attorney was found by Novi police who were doing a welfare check on the man, since he had not been out of touch for days.
His body was found inside the entryway of his unit at the River Oaks apartment complex near 10 Mile and Novi Rds. Ianni had been shot several times in the torso.
Nicholas Ianni operated out of a law office, Ianni and Associates, at 3622 Covert Rd in Waterford. It was someone at the law office who called for the welfare check because Ianni had not shown up at the office and couldn't be reached.
Michigan State Police crime lab investigators processed the scene, removing at least one paper bag containing trace evidence. Ianni's body was removed at about 5:30 PM Wednesday evening.
Investigators say they have no suspects, no motive, and have not received any tips.
