Body found in hotel water tank

Last week, staff of an LA hotel found a body of a young woman in the buiding's rooftop water supply tank. The woman's spirit joins other resident ghosts in the longtime haunted hotel.

Elisa Lam, 21, of Vancouver, British Columbia was reported missing on January 31. Her decomposing body was later found February 19, inside of a water tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel.

A maintenance worker found the body early Tuesday morning after responding to complaints about the hotel's water pressure. Some hotel guests complained about the water having an odd smell.

Lam, a tourist from Canada, arrived in California late last month. Records indicate that she checked into the Cecil Hotel on January 27. Her family reported her missing four days later after not hearing from her.

Medical examiners are still running tests to find the cause of Lam's death. Officials are baffled as to what happened to the young woman. There are currently no suspects in the case.

Located on LA's skid row, the Cecil Hotel was once popular with celebrities. Two serial killers, Jack Unterweger and Richard Ramirez, were once guests in the hotel.
