Water for the world's 7 billion people

Sometime today the world's population passed 7 billion people. That's 7 billion people that need water to drink, to bathe, to cook, and too survive on this planet. Unfortunately, approximately 1 in 8 people lack access to clean, safe water worldwide. Those nearly 900 million men, women, and children face the threat of parasites, disease and death because of their lack of safe water. As the world's population continues to grow that number will only become more dire.

Here in the great lakes region we are lucky enough to have 20% of the world's freshwater in our backyard making access to safe water much less of a problem than it is in other parts of the world.

As the world continues to feel the squeeze of limited water resources, water conservation will become more important everywhere, even the great lakes region.
