Beatle fans will notice something eeringly similar as "The Jonas Brothers Concert Experience" DVD begins: teenage girls' screams haven't changed much in 45 years.
You'll notice several similarities to "A Hard Day's Night" as the film, being released on DVD June 30, continues.
For example, the boys suddenly find themselves stuck in traffic and their limo is surrounded by screaming girls. What to do? The guys exit through the roof and start running through the street with their tween fans close at their heels, occasionally mugging at fans along the way.
Sound familiar?
Wait, we're not through yet. The camera suddenly pans to the boys sitting on a bench off to the side. The girls run right past them, never noticing them.
That's not all. The chase ends with the boys making their escape by jumping into a helicopter. The only thing missing is the autographed pictures flying from the craft as they take off.
The main part of "The Jonas Brothers Concert Experience", a quasi day-in-the-life of the trio, is the live performance. Orchestrated with enough theatrics to keep the fans excited, the Jonases rock through songs, including four not included in the theatrical version of the film: "Can’t Have You” and “A Little Bit Longer,” plus two bonus songs, “Love Bug” and “Shelf.” In addition, the the Blu-ray version has both 2-D and 3-D versions of the film and includes 3-D glasses. (The standard DVD only has the 2-D version.)
As one of the many names touted as successors to the Beatles through the years, musically they aren't all that bad: a little power pop mixed with young harmonies and a hard rock edge. There have been worse pretenders to the throne.
Wonder if their next movie will involve problems with a ring sent by a fan?

they are soo hot i love them THEY ARE THE SEXIEST BROTHERS ALIVE! im a huge fan ,..
cant wait for the DVD to come OUT!:D:D<3<3(L)
Isnt the Jonas Brothers spin off of A Hard Days Night the most sincere form of flattery.. After all why not copy the vibe Beatles had forty years ago. To this day the Beatles still continue to be the undisputed best rock-n-roll band ever on planet Earth.
I'm with Ira!! You can make all the efforts you like...But topping the Beatles is Mission Impossible. So...if you can't beat them...JOIN THEM! The funny bit will be when the Jonas' fans grow up and discover the real thing, and when the finally sit down to watch "A Hard Day's Night" they'll be thinking to themselves: "The Beatles SOOOOOOOO copied the Jonas Brothers"!!!
I LOVE THE JONAS BROTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!I know you do too.
I try to escape reading about them (jonas brothers)... because honestly, I don't think they are at all talnted. But now they've been written about here. There are better Beatles related thigns to read about, I don't need a play by play of what their DVD has etc. I came here to read about The Beatles not The Jonas Brothers. One paragraph about their movie would have been fine, not a whole article.
Hey Steve,
There must be some kind of press award that should go to you for sitting there and watch this movie. If The Jonas Bros had even a quarter of the talent that the Spice Boys aka The Beatles had I would have joined you at the movie theater.
RS
Do you think we will be talking about the Jonas Brothers 45 years from now?
Wow, that sounds like it was totally ripped off. The company at the root of all things Jonas and Miley (starts with a "D")has a history of "borrowing" from earlier works that aren't theirs (Compare Kimba to The Lion King). Even if they find a loophole to borrow themes so that it's legal, that doesn't make it ethical.
Mick W: Good question, actually. At least the Jonases are developing their music, unlike other acts. But it really depends on how much real talent as opposed to theatrics they have. Right now, the talent is taking a back seat to the theatrics to play up to the crowds. As the Wicked Witch of the West said, "All in good time."
Steve,
You are spot on about the Jonas Brothers. I took my daughter to see them (JB) at the Garden in NYC last year and the talent was taking a back seat to the theatrics.
In one aspect it was like the Beatles at Shea in 1965 you could not hear them over the screams of their fans. The difference the Beatles had talent.
It is likely that Jonas Brothers will not stand the test of time.
The Beatles have accomplished some thing that very very few if any were able to accomplish..the Beatles were able to transcend generation after generation and for today kids their music is a fresh today as it was in 1964.
If the Jonas Brothers continue to rely on the theatrics over the talent the bell will toll sooner than later.
Seeing how the Jonas Brother's new album is the most musical diverse and their most ambitious album yet I'd hardly say talent is taking a back seat. They are very talented. They keep moving forward and keep developing their music and I think they will last a long time. I think they can very well stand the test of time. As a fan of the Jonas Brothers and as the biggest Beatles fan I know personally, I don't like taking part in the Beatles vs Jonas Brothers debates. I don't feel they need to be put against each other. It's cool pointing out similarities. It's harmless and fun. It don't take anything away from the Beatles. I don't understand why whenever a comparison between the two is made fans have to take the offensive/defensive. The Beatles in my opinion are still the greatest band. Their legacy isn't being attacked whenever a comparison is made. The Beatles legacy is strong enough to withstand harmless comparisons.

@Steve: I saw the Jonas Brothers concert experience in theaters and I saw the similarities as well. The Beatles actually make an appearance themselves on a tv set in the movie. I was surprised and excited by that.
I am a life long 2nd generation Beatles fan (born 1966). My kids love the JB - and I've listened to their music. I can understand saying that a lot of "The Next Beatles" did not come close to the talent - just plain out fabricated by some company, but it should be known that it is NOT the case with The JB. Though they NOW work for Disney - that has not always been the case. They are self-made. They write their own tunes and play MOST of their own instruments. Their music has progressed. Their new album sounds nothing like their previous albums. They strive to make each album different. I won't say they are the next Beatles - because I do agree that their could never be a next Beatles - but I don't think their is anything wrong with being open-minded enough to listen to what the kids of today are listening to. Paul once said that he was proud that the Beatles legacy consisted of music that talked about love mostly and was positive. The same can be said about the JB. Good luck to them!
I am not a JB fan at all, although I do admit there are far worse things out there nowadays.Anyway, no matter how much they can improve, I don't really think they'll last very long. I mean, their talent just can't hold a candle to the Beatles', and I highly doubt anyone's ever will. The Beatles weren't just wonderful composers and performers, they were revolutionary in so many ways that the JBs will never be able to just imagine, let alone be.
