Watch this: A triple back from Fabian Hambuechen (pre-Achilles tear, of course)

No wonder Fabian Hambuechen had a sore Achilles.

The 23-year-old German wunderkind, who will miss much of the 2011 season with a torn Achilles tendon, had been working some intense skills on floor before his tendon started flaring up last year.

GymNiceTic linked to some videos of Hambuechen taken during the run up to the 2009 European Championships. Among the skills he shows is a triple back (onto soft but floor level padding) and a 2.5 twist to layout front to immediate double front.

There's also one of the more impressive double twisting double layouts I've ever seen, which Hambuechen usually uses as a floor mount when he's healthy.

Impressive, but that's a spring-loaded strip into a Resi pit, not 'level floor matting.'
