On Friday, July 25, 2014, fans of zombie television hit "The Walking Dead' got a taste of season five at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. Before the cast sat down for a convention panel, AMC debuted a trailer for its upcoming season (which airs Sunday, October 12).
And judging by the barrage of clips, life won't get any easier for Rick and his band of survivors. We last left the group when they had been captured at Terminus, which was presented as a safe haven, but revealed to be a fortress run by cannibals. In the last frame of the season four finale, Rick, Carl, Darryl, Michonne, Glen, Maggie and Abraham were locked in a railroad car, left to be harvested for meat. But Rick remained defiant: "They're screwing with the wrong people."
The trailer shows the group presumably escaping (delaying) their fate, by waging a deal to be freed so they can go to Washington D.C. where scientist Eugene Porter still claims he can find a cure for the virus (in a somewhat ridiculous moment, the head of Terminus states "You don't trust us anymore?")
It also shows Tyrese, Carol and Rick's daughter Judith reunited with the group. And most intriguingly, the trailer ends with a clip of Beth, (last seen abducted in a speeding car in season four). Held in an undetermined location (police station? Mental ward?), she's being lectured to by a woman in a police uniform: "Every sacrifice we make needs to be for the greater good. In here, you're not the greater good; you're part of the system." We then see a quick-cut montage of her attempting a harried escape.
So check out the intense new trailer and weigh in with your opinions and predictions for season five below. And if you'd like to hear the cast's Comic-Con q-and-a panel, you can watch it here.
