Brooklyn's own The National will be making their sitcom debut on FOX's "The Mindy Project."As fans of the show already, the band unanimously agreed to participate after being sought out by Executive Producers and fans, Matt Warburton and Jack Burditt.
Lead singer Matt Berninger revealed that the band will be headlining a made-up musical festival called "Penny-farthing." They'll be playing an acoustic rendition of "This Is The Last Time," a dark love song from their 2013 release "Trouble Will Find Me." Although the band's sound is a notoriously acquired taste, their impact seems to be reaching further and further into the mainstream. It'll definitely be interesting to see how the complex and heavy tone of "This Is the Last Time"will play out in contrast to the show's comedic atmosphere.
No strangers to the silver screen, The National was just recently the subject of the critically-acclaimed indie documentary "Mistaken For Strangers."The film was recorded and released by Matt Berninger's brother, Tom Berninger.
The episode airs on October 1 at 9:30 p.m. on Fox. Check out a behind-the-scenes look at The National's visit to "The Mindy Project."
