Taylor Swift has returned with an entertaining video for "Mine." It's the first single from her upcoming album Speak Now, available October 25.

On the one hand "Mine" seems very familiar compared to some of Swift's previous videos. It's the story of a girl who meets a guy, falls in love with him, they run into some trouble, but it all works out in the end. "Love Story" worked that way, to large degree so did "You Belong With Me." In fact those two videos, as well as the new one, were all directed by Roman White.

On the other hand "Mine" is a bit more thoughtful than those past songs. Instead of dealing with being the nerd, or a disapproving father, this time Swift deals with a more emotional issue. We see her flashing back to scenes of her parents fighting. She's playing a girl who had her view of what love looks like skewed by growing up with those scenes, and it's up to this new guy to show her that's things don't always have to be that way. He has to show her that love can overcome. No easy task. While undoubtedly a happy pop song, it is a little deeper for the country star.

What also makes "Mine" unique is that it doesn't stop when Swift and the gentleman get together. "You Belong With Me" stopped at the big dance scene and "Love Story" stopped at an engagement. From the lyrics you'd expect "Mine" to end with them surviving a fight. Instead we see a wedding, a first child being born, the kid growing some, a second kid, a family outing to the beach, it just keeps going. Then we end up back where we started when she first met her love. Just like "Love Story" it was all her fantasy of what could happen.

So we now have multiple videos where Swift meets a guy and her mind runs wild imagining falling in love and running into trouble, only to overcome it. Could this be something she does in real life? Any man who meets her probably walks away wondering ho far he got with her in her head.
