It must have been traumatizing for men to see the women liberation movement happen in the sixties as they watched hopelessly "their" women reclaim their true nature and role on this planet.
The gist is it had to happen and long overdue yet, somehow, something was overlooked. What about the men revolution? Before you ladies smirk, being a man isn't all it's made out to be. It's actually hard work and keeping up the appearance of being in charge all the time, looking tough, strong and all takes its toll on us. It can be exhausting. The inevitable will happen. Our revolution is at hand...
Coming Up Next, Men's Revolution. Highly unforeseen by many, this revolution for men had to happen. After all, why should women liberate themselves and men still be trapped in stereotypical roles? It really isn't fair. More and more, men circles are popping up around the country stirred by men eager to step into their truer nature and role, not what has been expected of them, nor imposed by dated society constraints.
Man Groups Everywhere. There is no handbook on becoming a man anymore. In older times, young men were taken under the protection of elders and shown into adulthood. Nowadays, Hollywood, TV and the Internet are pale shelters. There have been trail blazers such as the famous poet Robert Bly and others, James Hillman and Michael Meade, for instance. The ShiftNetwork project continued the movement, as well as another potential one called: the Mankind Project.
The idea is simple. The the adult, fatherly male role decline in our society has been a problem and short term fixes have never solved much. In older societies where males are initiated into the arcane world of adulthood, society weaves thicker woven family ties that our Western society endangers. There is now, more than ever a strong desire and need for young men to become mature adults, to step into their roles and reclaim what has been lost.
In the end, I can't help but feel men have to evolve one way, or another. Pitting empires against another, one men's hormone against another is too close to the cavemen clobbering. We have a wealth of knowledge and understanding after reading holy men's messages and lifestyles, it is clear that our revolution is round the corner... watch out ladies, it's coming!
