There’s good news this Thanksgiving. Wind conditions let up and Manhattan got the go-ahead to move forward with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. There were fears that wind gusts would exceed 23 mph, halting large balloons from flying overhead. Early Thanksgiving morning, all was clear and the balloons were seen descending down the parade route. The Macy’s Day Parade runs from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. ET, and is in full swing.
With an estimated 50 million tuning in, there is no doubt that many prefer watching the parade from the warmth of their homes, rather than standing on the parade route sidelines. The parade airs on NBC and is a long standing tradition in America.
Even with bitter cold weather, countless took to the streets of Manhattan to watch the parade make its yearly journey. The route has changed and no longer goes through Times Square. The exact total of people who braved the bitter weather to see the parade live has yet to be tallied, but early estimates put it at 3.5 million. We’ll provide you with an update after the parade’s conclusion.
