Watch first trailer from 'Leprechaun: Origins'

It’s been almost ten years since we’ve been graced with a film from the ‘Leprechaun’ horror series. But that’s getting ready to change; the series will receive a dark facelift, when ‘Leprechaun: Origins’ hits Blu-ray and VOD Sept 30th.

Lionsgate studios will be releasing the film, and to give fans a taste, they released the first official trailer on June 9, 2014, which you can stream here (courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.)

It will be curious how the finished product turns out; the original ‘Leprechaun’ films were popular for their campy appeal. Warwick Davis espoused pun groaners in-between bloodletting. It was far from creepy; it was more lowbrow comedy.

But the new film looks to be playing it straight, and features a new ‘Leprechaun’; WWE Wrestler Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl will be taking over for David.

But do people really want a ‘scarier’ ‘Leprechaun.’ Can that even be possible? Or will the end product be more endearingly goofy like the original series? We’ll just have to wait and see.

So take a look at the trailer; does it make you miss 'Lep In The Hood' already? Or will you give it a shot? Tell us your first impressions in the comments section.
