Last night, Bob Dylan In America author Sean Wilentz was a guest on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report.
Host Stephen Colbert, at the start of the show, said he couldn't wait to hear what Sean Wilentz had to mumble.
In the interview, Colbert asked why Wilentz wrote a book about Dylan instead of more books about former President Ronald Reagan He also asked Wilentz to explain why young people (like himself) should listen to Dylan, adding "He's no Britney", and argued that Elvis Presley was a better songwriter.
In a somewhat serious question, Colbert asked if that is really Bob Dylan on stage, or "the character of 'Bob Dylan' ". He also compared Dylan to Santa Claus.
Wilentz answered all questions with grace and humor.

I gotta wonder about Wilentz being so sure that Dylan is still a Christian.
Sean Wilentz’s father was Eli Wilentz who owned the 8th Street Bookstore in Greenwich Village. Sean mentions this, but doesn’t name the store.
To Jim Eigo -
It's actually called "The Eighth Street Bookshop".
