What is better than one American Idol winner on stage in a free performance? Two American Idol winners on stage, for free, plus the most popular runner up ever (sorry, Clay Aiken). That is what went on this Friday, August 7th, when Good Morning America's concert series closed the week with a performance by David Cook, Kris Allen, and Adam Lambert. See a video here!
The pop idols rocked out at Central Park in a performace that was aired on ABC at around 8.30am as part of the Good Morning America Concert Series. David Cook sang his hit "Come Back To Me," Adam Lambert went for a cover of "Starlight" by Muse, and Kris Allen chose his popular cover of "Heartless," by Kanye West. At one point, according to MTV, Cook started singing on his own, but was surprisingly joined on stage by Lambert and Allen. I wouldn't be saying "sorry Clay Aiken" until Mr. Lambert proves himself after the AI tour is over. In six years, if Mr. Lambert is still relevant, then we'll talk. Until then, there is still no comparison. When Lambert has sold millions of cd's, toured 9 times on his own, written a best selling book and has been on television shows, then there may be a comparison. Until then.....

What has Clay done lately? He spent 2008 starring on Broadway and released his 4th CD. He released another in March 2009. He was a guest star on 30 Rock and America's Next Top Model. He performed in David Foster's "Hit Man" concert series and re-launched his charitable foundation. He has only had 2 or 3 months off and will be back in the fall.
When was mAdam's last CD released again? Oh yea. Never. When did he star on Broadway? Oh yeah, never. mAdam has a lot of catching up to do. He hasn't done anything Clay hasn't done first or better.
Lambert is a drag queen who stayed in the closet until after AI. Google for pics of him and you will see that he is OTT. Just NO.

I've been so curious about Adam Lambert ever since the media exposure he has been receiving have been so enormous as compared to any of the previous AI finalists. I was really wondering what he really has why the attention he gets was just too much. Watching the recent GMA concert have I realized that he glowed like a star singing "Starlight - Acoustic Version" while seated down during the whole rendition. His voice was incredibly powerful, his face radiated godly looks, and his stage presence was simply impeccable. His performance generated the most applause and it was pretty obvious that the majority of the audience was in awe as they watched and listened to him. I really would not be surprised if he becomes an instant superstar now that the world has discovered him.
Right... there should be no comparison. Adam's instant rise to superstardom is definitely incomparable. I bet everyone has to live by it -- like it or not!

Adam is the most talented because his voice & personality are amazing.He is unique. Cook has a good voice & I think he's indeed a professsional singer but I heard a lot of that type from other professionals too. Kris got an amateur voice, I really can't appreciate it.
Adam's rendition of Starlight just blew me away. He sang this song so beautifully and the whole audience was caught up in his spell. Adam Lambert is going to be a star.
Adam by far is the most current and relevant artist. Cook has a great voice but zero personality and zero stage appeal. Cook I would buy CD's but not see him in concert. Adam I would wait in line for days to see him in concert and buy all his CD's. Adam Lambert has the entire package. He is much better looking than the others, he has a better range, better voice, and way, way better stage appeal.
Take a look at the poll haters, Adam wins again! Adam is up for 2 more awards, has won two awards already, has the song track lead in the upcoming blockbuster movie 2012, has the theme song for the TV movie FlashForward, he is the most current, relavent artist out there, he has fans from all over the world, do the reasearch. Absolutely ridiculous to compare him to Clay has been around longer but hasn't done much, Adam is doing all this and this is only the beginning. You don't even know the guy yet you get your little knickers in a twist when others write great things about him, why don't you idiot bashers go and boycott and the papers from writing how Adam continually steals the show, how he is on his way to international stardom instead of bashing his fans. You can't ,can you? because the truth is that Adam is a superstar and all your bashing can't touch time, he has way more that love him. Suck it up.

My wife and I attended the GMA concert. If you look carefully you can see me about 15 rows back, center, blue shirt, tall guy. From what we saw and the response we heard it was an Adam Lambert crowd all though there were a lot of David Cook fans and fans who rooted for both Adam and David. Adam's song was even more amazing in person. That kid has an incredible voice. His range is from another world. David Cook has a good voice too but not quite as big a range as Adam. It was a good crowd and it was worth getting up at the crack of dawn to hear Adam Lambert sing. I have not bought Cook's CD and probably won't but he does have a good voice.
When did Clay come out of the closet.....after AI right.....he looks more feminine than Adam ever could...get over it folks...Adam is rising to the top whether you like it or not...I will buy everything he sings...
All three are great artists, otherwise, they won't be invited to perform in GMA. However, to analyze who is great, greater and greatest would be easy. Kris is great, he's got a voice that fits some music but he makes you nervous when he performs as you never know if he'd be able to hit a high tune right. David is greater and just like Kris, they play the guitar well and although his voice sounds very good because his range is wider than that of Kris, his voice also cannot reach high notes that he has to change the tune in a stylish brilliant manner. Adam is the greatest of the three. He has a voice that's so incredible that it can reach high and low notes effortlessly and his stage presence is simply magnificent not to mention that he has a natural flair to perfect grooming/presentation.
Clay Aiken by the way is good and we all know that he, too, has a great voice range. However, he is not as current and as relevant as the three... and he looks so fat the last time I saw him performed.
So JoJo, please advise at which minute of the GMA performance of Starlight that you heard Adam Lambert screaming. You must have dog hearing and somehow thing a quiet subdued acoustic version of the song somehow equates to screaming. More than likely, you've never even heard Adam Lambert and didn't even watch the GMA video. Hater. The boy has been a professional vocalist and actor for 17 years and if you google adam lambert opera experts you can read three well respected opera expert's analysis of his extraordinary skill and testimonials of how it only came to him from disciplined work on his natural talent year after year.

As for the article stating that Adam is the most popular runner up. Would that be fact or just an opinion? I too will decide whos the most popular in 5 years. I think Adam is a novelty. Those things wear off sooner rather than later. But, we'll see what he does for himself. If he's around 5 years from now....good for him. Not my cup of tea....I prefer the Clay Aiken kind. And, I don't expect to get slammed because of it. I don't slam your kind so don't slam mine. Too each his/her own.
@Sharon - Stop the hate! Adam has only dressed in drag 2 or 3 times for Halloween and he always looks well groomed, so I don't know why you would say that he looks like he needs a long shower. He was never in the closet and never denied anything. He definitely dressed way better than David Cook & Kris Allen on the GMA Concert. Adam is beautiful inside and out and is a fantastic singer/entertainer/performer.
I have watched Idol for 5 yrs. and when the shows was over I never followed any of the Idols or bought their music until Adam. I have never blogged or followed stories or written to any until Adam and all I can say it has been a real eye opener to me on how very ugly humanity can be. The silly war between fans, the hate, it's incredible but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It is a sad thing to see. For me, I hope all these guys make a good life for themselves doing what they love, since so many of us do not have that,I wish them all love and success, and for the people out there with all this hate I really hope you can find that too because you hurt yourselves the most.

Wow! spectacular!! David Cook and Kris Allen are good singers, I think David is much better than Kris, but is my personal opinion. But they (David and Kris) are the same style... but Adam s in other league! Amazing!. his voice is so gifted! And he is so professional and he cares any details:look, hair, clothes style, I think he is the complete package: voice + talent + performances + fashion. AWESOME! For me Adam was the best! And I know thas is my opinion and I respect the others opinin, but not the hate. I don't like Kris, and I don't know Cook, but they look very talent singers and nice persons, and the free negative critisc (like Adam always screams) are so falses and gratuites... I think the musical history will be justice to Adam. And only one date: American idol is important in USA but not the same thing outside USA and only Adam traspass the barriers, and around the world exist thousand of fans of Adam (the winners of AI are totally unknows), but Adam is a worldstar now!

David Cook is the best artist to come out since the Beatles and Elton John. I loved Adam Lambert's "Mad World" and "Ring of Fire" but come on, David Cook took over the stage when Adam and Chris backed him up on background vocals on "Sweet Little Lies"--Tell the truth, David Cook has a thick head of hair, and a voice from Heaven. I love lumberjacks!!! I want to play with his beard! BTW, David doesn't even need backup music. He sang "Lie" completely a cappella at the Ohio State Fair concert on 8 August. Can I say there is no one out there to even compete with him? David is in an entirely different dimension. I would like to see Adam open for David once Adam has some AI concert experience under his belt. Poor Adam looked so scared...but his recorded vocals for the show weren't too bad.
I don't understand why people have to put Adam down to prop up their favorite. Making comments like Adam or Kris are a backup singers is really unfair. They have been on tour and needed to sing together so they sang a few notes on Davids set! They each had their own song. My personal favorite is Adam. I saw him in concert he is awesome. Also he began performing as a child and has been working in the business for over 10 years. Believe me he does not need lessons on performing. He has the audience captivated at every stop on the tour. Adam =superstar
I have watched all 8 seasons of Idol..I have enjoyed many of the contestants. Kelly being the first, Clay being the second and to be honest no one besides these two have impressed me. Adam is talented but his style is just not for me. Don't hate me, but everyone is not going to like ADAM...get over it. Just like when Clay came on the scene in 2003 not everyone was crazy about him. Clay's popularity in 2003 is so similar to Adam's this year. I can't predict Adam's future but don't push him down everyone's throat! Take a step back and let people decide for themselves. You can do him more harm than good. Best to him but it seems I remember last year that David Archuetta was the second coming and where is he now? Not to say he is not doing well but he is not setting the world on fire. Each year there is a contestant that everyone gets behind but a year later someone else comes along. Chill if you like a singer..enjoy them but don't expect everyone else to.
Adam is the only singer of American Idol that is famous outside USA, maybe you have doubts in your contries, but in the rest of the world th only singer famous and important is Adam. Never in the American Idol history have Fans Club (Klackson, Ayken or Cook for example) but now in many-many countries exists Fans Club and fans of Adam. In Latin America we have fans in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Perú, Brzil, Costa Roca, etc.etc. we are faithful Adam's fans and we are proud Glamberts, LatinGlamberts and Globerts. Allen, Cook, Archuleta??? nobody know them. Conclusion: in USA maybe the "crown" is fight, but outside USA... we have our winner: Adam Lambert, we are wait for him, We pray for concert in our countries and if you don't like Adam... no problem, we will receive Adam when he wants... we wait with open arms!!! Please keep Allen and Cook, the rest of the world wants ADAM!!
I have watched all 8 seasons as well and no one come close to Adam. No one is pushing him down your throat unless you allow it. If people like him they are going to support him with passion , why not? Obviously you have never felt that, so you should not go around telling people to chill, you handle things your way, that 's all you can really do, you just creat dissention when you judge others and that is not your place nor could you ever understand what motivates another.

adam is such an incredible performer with such an incredible voice. the fact that he came out of american idol irks me, because it will lessen his appeal to older audiences. he is, in my opinion, the greatest talent of the century. i hope others can see that too.

I was at the GMA show and David Cook is so much more polish and vocallly superior to Adam and Kris. (JMO)He sings with so much emotion and the audience can feel it. He appeals to a diverse crowd and every demographic. He can sing anything from a ballad to a hard rock song. He is also gorgeous,talented, articulate and sensitive.
Adam to me was the best on GMA. David and Kris fall into the same thing we've seen over and over again. David has better vocal skills then Kris , but neither one has the "IT" factor.
I hope the best to all 3, but I can't get enough of Adam.
By the way, the announcer was getting annoying when he kep't saying "Lampert"

I love all 3 of those guys, loved Cook's first album, can't wait for Adam and Kris to finally release theirs. But Adam more popular than Clay? At the moment, probably, but you forget that Clay was very, very popular coming off Idol, their situations were amazingly similar (huge crowds at appearances, more popular than the winner, Rolling Stone cover etc). Let's see how Adam is doing in 6 years to decide who is the most popular.

Whoa some peepz are in denial. I'm a huge David Cook fan, I'm a Clay Aiken fan too (I have all of Dave's music old and new, all of Clay's CDs even Christmas) but c'mon, compared to Adam......no, sorry. It is also undeniable that Adam's got more popularity than the two combined and acknowledged by more celebs than anyone ever had just coming out of AI, w/o even having a CD out. I also don't remember seeing any other idol on the cover of EW during the show or Rolling Stone right after. Heck, friggin Queen was interested in the man, let's be reasonable. I can't say what the future holds for Lambert, personally I think it's good. He's got a vocal ability like no other current pop singer and the capacity to create extraordinary music (and he looks good too, what the heck). Idk if he will make good use of his resources but I sure hope so and know he's got lots of potential. But as of right now, all I can say is that he's prolly the best thing to come out of that show.
Really, all the Adam is god talk is quite humorous. He has proved nothing yet in the industry. Just compare him with stage mate there, David Cook. Sure Adam made the cover of Rolling Stone for coming out, but Cook broke Billboard records after his Idol reign. Sure Adam made Acess Hollywood, Cook debuted on Saturday Night Live. Adam is singing 4 songs a night on the AI tour, Cook is selling out venues across the country with a platinum CD, 3 top 10 singles and 2 number 1 videos. That is what matters right now. Not too say Adam doesn't have the same chance at stardom, but realistically speaking, they are not on the same page yet. Let Adam get to that place before declaring him the best. He hasn't proven that yet.
i like david cook and kris allen, musically my thing. i'll be basing popularity/success on current CD sales and future CD sales. The sooner these guys move away from the AI fanatics the better (not saying all their fans). David Cook is working his ass off to make it happen, trying to expand his fanbase through college tours. Whether or not Kris Allen wins polls doesn't seem to be a reflection on his post-idol single sales/album sales. $1,000,000.00+ sold to date. (can't compare to cook, but still good in this economic climate). We shall see next year at this time how things play out ... i voted "can't choose, love them all." I've never denied Adam's vocal skilz.
David Cook has done amazing things in the year since he was Amercian Idol. I expect that Adam Lambert will do the same..it was a pleasure to see David and Adam on the same stage.
