Watch Academy Awards at Chicago hot spots

Chicago has its own “red carpet” spots to watch the 85th Annual Academy Awards ® Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.

Chicago’s Academy-sanctioned Oscar® party is at the Gene Siskel Film Center but it is almost sold out. The party starts at 6 p.m. Dinner is donated by Pure Kitchen.The event is co-sponsored by the Sun Times’ SPLASH. Cocktail attire is required. General admission is $100. VIP admission at $200 includes preferred seating and special goodies. Valet Parking is available. Ticket sales stop at 5 p.m. Feb. 21.

ABC’s “190 North” Mark Nilsson, Emmy award-winning host of WGN-TV's “Chicago's Best” Ted Brunson and Chicago Comedienne/OWN Network's Patti Vasquez are hosting “An Evening with the Stars Red Carpet Spectacular,” a benefit dinner for Autism Speaks at the InterContinental O’Hare.

Among the VIPs expected are actor Aaron Freeman and several former Bears including Brian Glasgow and Mark Greene. Tariff is $200 for individuals and $1,500 to $10,000) for tables of 4 to 10 people. Premiere sponsorships include an all-inclusive evening starting at 5:30 pm with the special preshow VIP reception and premier seating at the benefit. Screens will be set up in the InterContinental Ballroom.
