The 2014 Winter Olympics begin with opening ceremonies in Sochi, Russia on Friday, February 7. Watch the Winter Games live online on NBC Live Extra on your computer, tablet, iPhone, Android or smartphone with internet access.

How to Watch the 2014 Winter Olympics Live Online

Although all of the Winter Games competition will be available via live stream, NBC will not broadcast the opening ceremonies online. To watch the opening ceremony, tune in to your local NBC TV station or affiliate at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, February 7.

All 98 events in 15 winter sports disciplines will be broadcast online, right up until the last day of competition, Feb. 23, 2014. NBC Live Extra* and the NBC Live Extra app will allow viewers to watch all of the competition online or on their smartphone.

That equates to 539 hours of live coverage of the Winter Games with competitions to be held at Fisht Olympic Stadium and nearby indoor venues. All snow events will be held at Krasnaya Polyana.

You can starting viewing live coverage and full-event replays of the Winter Olympics online at NBCOlympics.com and via the NBC Sports Live Extra App on February 6, one day before opening ceremonies.

*You must register on the Live Extra site to start the live streaming coverage. Viewers will have to verify their pay-TV subscription with one of 15 providers including Verizon FiOs, DirecTV, ATT UVerse, Xfinity and COX. If you do not have cable access, will still have access to the live streaming of select events, although it will be limited.

NBC TV Winter Olympics Event Schedule

Wondering what time will your favorite sport will be on during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics?

NBC has a helpful TV listings grid that will give you the daily schedule for a specific sporting event. Enter your zip code and the name of your satellite or cable provider and you will be given a list of times and dates for the sport you want to watch.

Keep in mind, the opening and closing ceremonies will not be broadcast via live stream, so you will have to watch that portion of the Winter Olympics on NBC TV.
