The Washington Huskies opened their season with a 3-0 loss to No. 21 Central Florida in the No Ka Oi Tournament hosted by the University of Hawaii on Friday night.
The Knights (1-0) got the scoring started in the fifth minute, when junior!!!! Tatiana Coleman knocked in a rebound. UCF added a second goal in the 17th minute on a free kick by Jennifer Martin, and Coleman completed the scoring with her second goal of the game in the 63 rd minute.
UCF outshot the Dawgs 13-5 and had seven shots on goal to the Huskies three. Washington keeper Megan Kufeld played all 90 minutes and made four saves. Isabel Farell, Lindsay Elston, and Becca Schoales all recorded shots on goal for Washington.
It was a physical affair, with the Huskies committing 21 fouls compared to 12 by UCF.
The Huskies return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon, when they take on UNC-Greensboro on the final day of the tournament.
