Washington Times re-launches its sports department

In December 2009 the Washington Times announced that it would be shutting down its sports department. Now, nearly 15 months later the Wasington Times sports department is back in business. On February 14 the Washington Times announced that it had hired sports editor Michael Harris. Harris, a 30 year veteran, previously worked as a sports editor at The Richmond Times-Dispatch and The Richmond News Leader. He has also worked as an editor at cbssports.com and AOL FanHouse.

At the time of the announcement Harris said, "Our goal is to make sports in The Washington Times and on washingtontimes.com exciting and informative every day."

The department, while not yet fully staffed, is currently again covering sports.
