Washington State has some of the most eclectic geology in the nation. Ranging from the rolling farmlands of Eastern Washington to the ice-capped monolith of Mount Rainier, from the lofty cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge to the Rain Forests of the Olympic Peninsula, the state has a little bit of everything. Thanks to its varied terrain and never-dull weather, the state possesses perhaps the highest density of waterfalls in the entire nation. Waterfalls a few feet tall to hundreds of feet tall to some of the best waterfalls on the entire planet can be found in Washington State.
Among the most famous waterfalls ( not necessarily the biggest) is the Snoqualmie Falls in North Bend. They say Snoqualmie Falls was made famous because of its appearance in the TV show Twin Peaks. The fact is, Snoqualmie Falls has been famous to 'Europeans' for well over a century and to Native Americans as far back as their stories can tell. Just one look you'll know why. Even though much of the water is now diverted to create electricity for the Seattle area, this thundering plunge off these ancient cliffs makes even a special trip to see this hydrospectacular worthwhile.
One of my favorite is the Palouse Falls in southeast Washington.Palouse Falls State Park is a 105-acre camping park with a unique geology and history. The park offers a dramatic view of one of the state's most beautiful waterfalls. Palouse Falls drops from a height of 200 feet. It is an excellent camping place in southeast Washington.

Last one I'll mention here is the Rainbow Falls. Not only it is one of the most impressive falls in Washington state, the trip to get there is an adventure of it's own. Located in the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area, the falls is accessable only by boat or float plane. The journey starts at the Lake Chelan Boat Company dock when you board Lady of the Lake II, a trans-lake cruiser, which cruises leisurely up the lake towards Stehekin- a small unincorporated community in Chelan County. The trip, alone, makes coming here so very worthwhile.
