World Breastfeeding week 2009 (WBW) is the greatest outreach vehicle for the breastfeeding movement, and is celebrated August 1-7 in more than 120 countries around the globe.
UNICEF is using the week to promote better nutrition and highlight the role that breastfeeding can play in protecting infants from under nutrition and illnesses that are common byproducts of natural disasters and other emergencies.
Washington State is joining along in protecting the rights of mothers who breastfeed their children in public places by passing a new law, reinforcing a previous initiative.
