Yesterday’s breaking news from the Tacoma News Tribune (Washington State) would have rocked the political and military world a couple of years ago. Openly-gay, City Councilman Ryan Mellow, announced marriage plans to his long-time partner, Army Reservist Lt. Colonel Jerry Hallman.
Mello using the social media network, Twitter, inadvertently made the "announcement" when he revealed that he and Lt. Col. Hallman were scouting possible venues for their May 3, 2014, wedding.
Of note, they are not ruling out Tacoma’s Point Defiance Pagoda where, “they found good vendors.”
Mello and Hallman have been together for six years.
When the military repealed the long-standing “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, it paved the way for Mello and Lt. Col. Hallman to publically acknowledge their relationship.
Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire signed the same-sex marriage bill last year that was later approved in a referendum held Nov. 2012. The Washington State law took effect Dec. 6, 2012.
Examiner's Note: No reported combat losses of U.S. troops since Jan. 16, 2013!
The National Military Examiner publishes military and military-related content from around the world that often misses mainstream media, including all troop losses.
