The fifth-ranked Washington Huskies picked up a pair of wins in a season-opening doubleheader in the UNLV/Sportco Kick-Off Classic on Friday.

In the opening game, the Dawgs took down No. 16 Baylor (1-1) 7-4. Five Dawgs recorded multi-hit games as Washington outhit Baylor 14-8.

Leading 3-1 in the fourth, Kylee Lahners broke the game open with a three-run home run, her first of the season. Lahners also added an RBI single in the fifth, giving Washington a 7-2 lead.

The Bears battled back in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases with nobody out. But senior Kaitlin Inglesby relieved starting pitcher Bryana Walker and struck out the next two batters. With two outs, a passed ball and a single allowed two runs to score, but Inglesby shutout Baylor over the final two frames.

Walker picked up the win for Washington, allowing four runs (three earned) over four innings. Inglesby recorded her first save of the season, allowing a lone single while striking out four over three innings of work.

In the second game of the day, the Dawgs used the longball to down San Diego (0-2) 3-0.

Tied at zero in the bottom of the fourth, Inglesby led of the inning with a single to left. An error on a Hooch Fagaly grounder put Huskies on first and second with no outs with Lahners coming to the plate. And just like in the first game, Lahners went deep, homering to left after battling to a 2-2 count.

Inglesby took care of the rest, pitching a complete game shutout, the 16th of her career. Inglesby (1-0) allowed just five singles and struck out four while walking one.

The Dawgs take on Arkansas and UNLV on Saturday.
