The Washington Project for the Arts (WPA) – one of the leading organizations in DMV supporting all artists – is thrilled to present to you SELECT2014 - art exhibition (Feb. 28-March 21) and benefit (March 22).

SELECT 2014 consists of a 3-week public exhibition and a ticketed auction party to support contemporary art and the local artist community. For this year's auction, the famous collector Mera Rubell (who has one of the largest contemporary art collections in the world) embarked on a 36 hour marathon in Baltimore by visiting artist studios to select works just for the WPA auction. The works represent a cross section of media and disciplines, providing a remarkable survey of contemporary artistic practice.

The SELECT2014 gala is the region’s longest running contemporary art auction gala that offers a truly unique opportunity to acquire works by emerging and established artists.
"Not only is SELECT WPA's most important fundraising event of the year, it also affords us the opportunity to show works by a tremendous number of talented artists from across the region. We are very excited to feature a number of internationally recognized artists this year such as Tavares Strachan and Mark di Suvero, both past participants in the Venice Biennale, alongside a number of emerging and mid-career artists. I love that this exhibition features something for so many tastes (and budgets) as the artwork was selected by a diverse group of talented and notable curators," says Lisa Gold, Executive Director of the Washington Project for the Arts.

Exhibition: February 27-March 21
Opening Reception: February 27, 7-10 pm (free)
Curator talks: March 6 and 13, 6:30-8 pm
