Considering buying today’s newspaper to look for jobs? The Washington Post mega employment section, once heralded as “the” place to find jobs has fallen to high unemployment and the current economic times. The mega employment section that once reported thousands of jobs available in the Washington, D.C. area has now been reduced to the paltry few jobs available in the area. A sad reality for the thousands of unemployed job seekers in the area.
The health care and IT sections still contain the largest number of opportunities. The remaining jobs are included in a section no larger than the normal Sunday help wanted section. Several companies, however, have taken out huge ads including: CVS, Metro and Microsoft.
One entire page of the mega section contains featured employers such as Mitre, Booz/Allen/Hamilton and The American Diabetes Association. Each featured employer provides details on the organization and a few jobs they have available.
The lack of jobs, however, is not the primary reason for the limited job advertisements in the mega employment section. Fewer employers are utilizing print media to advertise their open positions. The solution, check out the Washington Post Jobs online section to broaden job possibilities.

I always wonder how many people are applying for the same job? What need to be done today to be qualified? nose done, behing, breast, face .... because your qualification are always to low or to high or you never have the right "qualification" it seems that needed and new qualification appears every month. So, in the long term, you're never qualified and then after years of looking, you're "too old" to still be qualified. Always something new not to be "qualified"!
