A deadly mudslide in the state of Washington took the lives of three people on Saturday. Eight others have been reported seriously injured, including a six-month-old baby. Fox News reported the devastating news on March 23 saying that rescuers have been listening for the cries for help from survivors that are still underneath the rubble. Thermal cameras are now being used to help with the search.

According to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, three people are confirmed dead. In addition, eight people have been found so far and taken to local hospitals. Three of them are said to be in critical condition, including the baby boy and two men. Six houses have also been destroyed by this terrible disaster.

The small town of Darrington, with a population of about 1,350 people, was blocked off by the mudslide. Reports started coming in late in the morning on Saturday after trees, dirt and debris caused by heavy rainfall over the past month came crashing down. State Route 530, near the town of Oso, was completely blocked by the muddy debris.

The North Fork of the Stillaguamish River has also been blocked. The county is urging residents living from Oso to Stanwood to evacuate their homes in case of flooding in that area. However, an official evacuation has not yet been issued, just for residents to be prepared to leave if needed.

"The situation along the Stillaguamish River is extremely dangerous," Gov. Jay Inslee expressed in a statement. "Anyone along the flood plain of the Stillaguamish between Oso and Stanwood should leave the area before dark due to risk of catastrophic flooding."

Help has been coming in from all over. The American Red Cross arrived to help and is taking donations of food, water and clothing items. Post Middle School in Arlington has also set up an evacuation shelter.
